Corpo medioThe Gattinara Riserva di Travaglini comes from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, the result of a careful selection from the company's historical vineyards. These vineyards, aged between 40 and 70 years, are located in the prestigious territory of Gattinara (VC), at the foot of Monte Rosa, on rocky soils. The vinification process included a phase of alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, for a period of 15-18 days. The aging took place in wood (90% in large Slavonian oak barrels, 10% in used barriques) for a period of about 40 months. Before being marketed, the Gattinara Riserva di Travaglini rested for an additional 10 months in the famous "tilted bottle," designed and patented in 1958, which here appears in a satin version (for additional protection from light).
The Gattinara Riserva di Travaglini seduces the sight with its garnet-red color. On the nose, it expresses aromas of small red fruits in spirit and potpourri that intertwine with hints of juniper berries, licorice, and dark oriental spices. Balsamic notes of sandalwood and toasted nuances complete the olfactory picture. The taste is austere and elegant, enhanced by silky tannins and a gentle fresh-salty trail that lingers in the long finish. It pairs well with aged cheeses as well as succulent dishes based on red meats or game at the table.
