Berlucchi's Franciacorta DOCG Saten '61 was made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from the 19 municipalities that make up the prestigious Franciacorta DOCG, in the province of Brescia. After the harvest, carried out from mid-August to early September, with a yield of 90 quintals per hectare, the grapes were sent for vinification which included a soft pressing phase and a first alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats. According to the rules of the Classic Method, Berlucchi's Franciacorta DOCG Saten '61 underwent a second fermentation in the bottle with ageing on its lees for at least 24 months; before being released, it rested for a further 2 months in the bottle. The Saten typology includes sparkling wines characterised by a bottle pressure of fewer than 5 atmospheres; a characteristic that gives the wines a delicate creaminess.
Berlucchi's Franciacorta DOCG Saten '61 shows a straw yellow colour with greenish reflections enhanced by a fine perlage. On the nose, it releases aromas of yellow pulp fruit that intertwine with fragrant hints of white flowers and clear notes of toasted hazelnut. The sip is silky and elegant, enhanced by a lively freshness and a clear minerality that persists in the long finish. Excellent as an aperitif, at the table, it goes well with cured meats and semi-aged cheeses as well as delicious seafood recipes based on white fish, molluscs and crustaceans.
