Corpo robustoThe Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo di Tenuta delle Terre Nere was born from Nerello Mascalese grapes with a small contribution of Nerello Cappuccio grown in the territory of Feudi di Mezzo, a hamlet of Castiglione di Sicilia (CT) which represents the largest cru of the Etna DOC. The soils here are volcanic with a predominance of ash and low presence of skeleton. The company vineyard, facing North and consisting of 40-80 year old bush-trained vines, extends over 1.5 hectares at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level. Fermentation for the red wine took place at a temperature of 28°-30°C. Aging was carried out for 16-18 months in barriques, tonneaux, and French oak casks, with 20% new, plus 1 month in stainless steel.
The Etna Rosso Faudo di Mezzo by Tenuta delle Terre Nere has a light ruby red color. On the nose, aromas of small red fruits and hints of balsamic herbs merge into warm notes of resin and dark spices. The palate is soft and enveloping, supported by silky tannins and a long balsamic and spicy finish. It pairs well with aged cheeses and succulent meat-based dishes featuring red meats or game.
