Girolamo Russo's Etna Rosso Feudo is almost entirely produced with Nerello Mascalese grapes from Contrada Feudo in Randazzo. Feudo is a vineyard of 6 hectares, the soil of which the ancient Greeks (those who inhabited the settlement from which the current city of Randazzo would have been born) had discovered deep and generous, planting the vine itself; it is characterised by the microclimate influenced by the winds that blow from the Valdemone. The wine ages for about 18 months in barriques and tonneau.
The Etna Rosso Feudo by Girolamo Russo is of an intense ruby red; on the nose, it is an immersion in the Mediterranean scrub, from herbs, balsams, berries, accompanied by aromas of red fruit and a beautiful sweet spiciness. The drink is powerful and ample, with the alcohol balanced by good tannins, freshness and juicy flavour. To drink in the company of dishes with a strong presence of aromatic herbs and certain fatness, perfect for example the risotto with sour butter, sage and anchovy sauce (Ristorante Giglio, Lucca).
