Corpo medioGiuseppe Mascarello’s Dolcetto d’Alba Vigna Bricco Mirasole 2024 captures a distinctive side of the Langhe through a single-vineyard expression of Dolcetto. Fruity and characterful, it combines an emphatically dry palate with the grape’s characteristic gently bitter finish. Beyond its easy affinity with food, this is a wine with a clear sense of place, shaped by the same attention to vineyard origins that defines the Mascarello family's work.
The grapes grow in Vigna Bricco Mirasole, in Castiglione Falletto, among the hills of the Langhe. Mascarello vinifies the fruit from individual vineyards separately, preserving the identity of each site. The Dolcetto harvest traditionally takes place around mid-September, with carefully selected grapes.
Made from 100% Dolcetto, the wine undergoes a traditional 6–7-day fermentation with a floating cap under temperature control. It then spends 6–8 months in concrete tanks for stabilization and maturation. This measured approach gives the grape room to express itself without pronounced oak flavours.
Expect a deep ruby colour with violet hints, generous varietal fruit and a dry, balanced palate with a subtly bitter edge. Served at around 16–18 °C, it works beautifully with pasta dishes, risotto, soups and white or red meats. A compelling way to discover the everyday table-wine tradition of the Langhe through a producer also celebrated for its Barolo.
