Corpo medioOrmanni's Chianti is a versatile and immediate wine. The grapes, 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot, come from the Poggibonsi vineyards located outside the boundaries of the Chianti Classico production area. The Ormanni estate, owned by the Brini Batacchi family for over two hundred years, was in the previous centuries the typical country house and agricultural farm in the Tuscan way: it produced wine, oil, cereals, firewood and work, had livestock farms, a mill, an oil mill and a production of alcohol from the distillation of the fruits of the strawberry tree. It was with the engineer Paolo Brini Batacchi that, at the beginning of the 1960s, the company modernised, passing from mixed to specialised cultivation of vineyards and olive groves, and from sharecropping to direct management. The grapes destined for Chianti ferment and macerate on the skins for 8-10 days; the wine then ages for about 12 months in vitrified concrete vats.
Ormanni's Chianti is presented in a brilliant and crystalline ruby glass. The nose smells of Tuscany in summer: strawberries, rosemary, parched earth, strawberry tree, mint. At the sip, it relaxes with a lot of tasty freshness, integrated tannins and a slightly bitter herb finish. Delicious with Tuscan bread and raw sausage.
