The Castello di Solicchiata di Castello di Solicchiata is born from a blend of Cabernet Franc (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and Merlot (10%) grapes. The vineyards, cultivated in Greek bush-trained systems and terraced, are located in the southwest area of Mount Etna at an altitude of approximately 800 meters above sea level. The harvest was entirely done by hand. The red vinification took place in truncated-cone wooden vats made of oak. Before being marketed, the wine aged for 24 months in barrels from Alliers and Troncais oak, plus an additional 4-5 years in the bottle. This is the symbolic red wine of the eponymous winery - the first Italian Bordeaux-style blend - first produced in 1868.
CASTELLO DI SOLICCHIATA ROSSO: TASTING
The Castello di Solicchiata di Castello di Solicchiata presents itself with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it opens with aromas of ripe red berries followed by hints of balsamic herbs and warm notes of tobacco, coffee, cocoa powder, and dark spices. The palate is rich and structured, enhanced by mature tannins and a long spicy finish. Perfect with aged cheeses and flavorful meat-based dishes with red meats or game at the table.Product specifications
