The Cabernet Sauvignon Napa di Beringer is an everyday wine in the Napa Valley style. Beringer is based in St. Helena, it is the oldest and longest-standing winery in the county and boasts several firsts: it was one of the first facilities powered by gravity; among the first to vinify and age in caves and cellars dug by hand; the first to offer public tours in 1934, just after the end of Prohibition, starting what is now a true tradition of hospitality in the Napa Valley; as well as the first and only winery to have both a red and a white wine named #1 Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator Magazine. The Cabernet grapes, harvested from vineyards resting on gravelly soils, are vinified at controlled temperature and the wine then matures in steel and bottle.
Beringer's Cabernet Sauvignon is a bright ruby color; it smells of blackberry, currant, and plum, with mineral and black tea undertones. The palate is soft, with elegant tannins, a certain freshness, and a hint of salinity. A versatile wine, it pairs very well with ossobuco accompanied by mushroom risotto.
