Corpo robustoPian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino DOCG was born from the vision of the Marchesi Antinori, who at this historic estate located 6 km southwest of Montalcino interpret Sangiovese in a style faithful to the tradition of large casks. The production philosophy favors aging in large oak barrels, the ideal tool to preserve the integrity of the fruit and to give the wine the vibrant elegance that distinguishes Brunello. Tenuta Pian delle Vigne takes its name from the locality where it stands, characterized by a charming 19th-century railway station. The estate covers 184 hectares, 83 of which are planted with vineyards, mainly facing southwest at an average altitude of about 130 meters above sea level. The soils, predominantly clayey and calcareous, rich in small stones, provide structure, depth, and a distinctive mineral profile. Since 1995, the year of the first Antinori vintage, Pian delle Vigne has represented a personal and profound interpretation of a wine that symbolizes the territory.
In the glass it shows an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose, it reveals notes of ripe cherry, plum, and small red berries, accompanied by hints of violet, tobacco, sweet spices, and light balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is structured and harmonious, with dense yet elegant tannins supported by fresh acidity that gives momentum and aging potential. The finish is long, with echoes of red fruit and licorice.
