Fine WineLe Potazzine's Brunello di Montalcino is the result of the balanced union of grapes from two plots of land: the first in Le Prata to the west of the village, facing south-east at an altitude of 507 metres above sea level, the second in the locality of La Torre, facing south-west at 420 metres above sea level. The Gorelli family makes wine according to the Ilcinese tradition with long natural fermentations of about 30/35 days carried out only by indigenous yeasts, prolonged refinements of 40 months in 30/50 hl Slavonian oak barrels and no filtering. This harvest is considered one of the best of the new century: a regular spring and a hot summer 2014 followed a rainy winter, in which the plants were able to accumulate water reserves to better face the growing season. In September, the ideal climatic conditions during the harvest and the temperature range due to the altitude of the vineyards sealed the good conditions.
The Brunello de Le Potazzine reflects the splendid vintage: bright ruby red colour with garnet reflections; on the nose, it gives flowers, red plums, tarot orange, laurel and blood. Rewarding sip, with silky tannins, citrus acidity, rocky and long sapidity. Perfect with wild boar pappardelle.
