Corpo robustoThe Barolo Rocche di Castiglione by Roccheviberti is produced from a vineyard of 2 hectares comprised of grapes from this cru. Rocche di Castiglione, at an average altitude between 300 and 350 meters, consists of small and very steep vineyards which are spread out along a hillside with eastern/southeastern exposure. In the lower part of this strip of land, about 1.5 km long and 60-70 meters high, there is a precipice (Rocche) which in some points reaches 150 meters. The soil is mainly calcareous and is rich in sand and tuff. These characteristics give the wines elegance and unique, well-defined aromas, with soft tannins and a perfect balance. The vineyards here have an average age of 40 years. The vinification takes place in steel fermenters at a controlled temperature and a 20-day maceration period; aging takes place in 20-25 hl French oak barrels for 3 years, then a further 12 months in the bottle.
Barolo Rocche di Castiglione di Roccheviberti has a characteristic garnet red tone. The nose is infused with spicy notes of cinnamon, star anise, leather, iron, licorice, undergrowth, aromatic herbs, violet and the classic ""goudron."" In the mouth it is balanced and delicate, with neat tannins and a savory finish. How better to accompany it than with roast lamb.
