Corpo robustoPalladino's Barolo Riserva San Bernardo 2012 comes from Nebbiolo grapes (Lampia and Michet sub-varieties) from the 2-hectare vineyard of the same name in Serralunga d'Alba. The exposure is east/south-east, the altitude between 330 and 390 metres above sea level and the soil is clayey limestone. This cru is produced exclusively in the best years. The grapes are vinified in steel, the wine is then aged for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and, subsequently, about 2 years in the bottle, before being placed on the market.
Palladino's Barolo Riserva San Bernardo 2012 stands out with a bright and intense garnet red. On the nose, it is complex and austere: citrus fruits and rosemary appear among the strong mineral references of rock; the background is pleasantly fruity. In the mouth, it has severe and elegant tannins, a certain warmth balanced by freshness and long balsamic hints. To be tasted strictly with a clean mouth, and then enjoyed accompanied by aged cheeses such as Castelmagno, also paired with a citrus mustard.
