Appia Antica 400 Rosso 2025 comes from Tenuta Principe Alberico on the outskirts of Rome and is made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grown organically on volcanic-origin soils. This Lazio IGT interprets the Bordeaux blend with an approachable, soft and distinctly territorial style.

Dark fruit, spice and a volcanic imprint

Fermentation takes place in concrete and stainless-steel tanks, followed by about 6-8 months in large oak casks. It shows a deep ruby colour with purple highlights. The bouquet recalls plum, morello cherry, blackberry and blueberry, with hints of chocolate and cinnamon.

Profile and pairings

The palate is enveloping, soft and rounded, with silky tannins, good freshness and a mineral vein that carries the finish. Serve at 14-16 °C; it pairs well with pasta dishes, cured meats, red meats and cheeses.
