The Amarone della Valpolicella Costasera di Masi is produced with Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes. Masi's historic headquarters are located in Gargagnago, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, a region that extends across the hills between Lake Garda and Verona; this Amarone is named for its southwest exposure, towards the sunset and Lake Garda, a particularly fortunate position. The grapes dry out during the winter months on bamboo racks in the drying loft, according to tradition.
Masi's Amarone Costasera presents a very intense ruby color with garnet reflections; on the nose, it is traditional with notes of cooked and spirit-soaked fruits, hints of tobacco and sweet spices, and traces of bitter cocoa. In the mouth, it is broad, full, balanced, with the taste well in line with the olfactory aromas. Try it with a thick wild boar and porcini mushroom soup, or, at the end of a meal, with medium to long-aged cheeses.
Zuppa di porcini e cinghiale; formaggi di media e lunga stagionatura.
