Corpo medioThe Zibibbo Pietranera di Marco De Bartoli is born on the island of Pantelleria: a dry white wine, aromatic and with marked mineral notes, an absolute innovation in the late 1980s, for the grape variety and the island tradition, from the over sixty-year-old vines in the most exposed areas to the North, in Contrada Cufurà and Contrada Ghirlanda. 2,500 vines per hectare, cultivated in the bush vine system typical of Pantelleria, an agricultural practice declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014. The 50 quintals per hectare, very low yield, are harvested in the first week of September; after a manual selection of the grapes, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed to undergo a cold maceration of about 24 hours. After soft pressing, the must is left to settle for 48 hours at a low temperature; the clear part then starts fermentation, always spontaneous, in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Pietranera then ages for 6 months, still in steel tanks.
The Zibibbo Pietranera di Marco De Bartoli is intense straw yellow. On the nose it smells of grapes and sun-warmed rocks, of orange blossoms and apricot, of fresh almonds and oregano. In the mouth it is fresh, mineral, rich in fruit, slightly bitter and very long-lasting. A perfect wine for a raw seafood dish dressed only with oil, salt, and pepper.
