The Summus di Banfi wine is obtained from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah grapes grown at an altitude between 250 and 300 meters above sea level, within the Castello Banfi estate located in the prestigious area of Montalcino, in the province of Siena. After the harvest, the individual grape varieties were vinified separately in combined tanks of stainless steel and Horizon wood at a controlled temperature. Subsequently, the Sangiovese aged for a short period of time in French oak barrels of 60 and 90 hectoliters, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in 350-liter French oak barrels.
SUMMUS BANFI: TASTING
The Summus di Banfi presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses aromas of sour cherry, plum, and ripe red fruits intertwined with evolved hints of coffee, vanilla, and tobacco. The palate is powerful and elegant, supported by a smooth tannic texture and a delicate fresh-savory trail that lingers in the finish. It pairs well with cured meats, aged cheeses, as well as flavorful land-based recipes with red meats and game.
