The Pre Romagna di Villa Papiano is born from 100% Sangiovese grapes coming from an ancient vineyard trained with low espalier system planted in 1960 in the area of Perdappio Alta (FC). The soil on which the vines root is sulphur-calcareous in nature and characterized by the presence of a puddingstone rocky formation mainly composed of pebbles and gravel. A respectful approach to biodynamic and organic principles has been adopted in the vineyard. During the red vinification process, alcoholic fermentation spontaneously occurred in open vats thanks to indigenous yeasts and was accompanied by a maceration of the must on the skins for about 3 weeks. The aging took place for 8 months in concrete and tonneaux, and then for a further 24 months in the bottle.

The Pre Romagna di Villa Papiano presents itself with a ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose, it opens with aromas of ripe red berries followed by hints of violet potpourri and notes of dark spices. Sulfurous and undergrowth hints complement the olfactory profile. The palate is soft and structured, enhanced by fine and elegant tannins and a clear minerality that lingers in the long spicy finish. It pairs well with aged cheeses and succulent meat dishes, especially those based on red meats or game.
