Corpo robustoThe Primitivo di Manduria Sessantanni di San Marzano was produced from 100% Primitivo grapes coming from the area between the municipalities of San Marzano and Sava, in the province of Taranto. The reference vineyards are made up of bush-trained vines at least 60 years old that root in soils characterized by fine-textured red soil with a limestone substrate. The grapes were handpicked when slightly overripe and subjected to destemming and crushing. After a pre-fermentative maceration at a temperature of 8°C for 24-48 hours, the must was fermented and macerated at 24-26°C for about 10 days. Aging took place in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.
The Primitivo di Manduria Sessantanni di San Marzano presents itself with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, notes of plum, cherry, and red fruits in jam emerge, blending with subtle hints of potpourri and evolved notes of tobacco, cocoa, and oriental spices. The palate is enveloping and fleshy, enhanced by smooth tannins and a pleasantly fruity taste that lingers in the long finish. It pairs well with aged cheeses as well as rich land-based dishes of red meat or game.
