Corpo medioThe Pinot Nero of Nuova Tenuta Paradiso is made by Marco Guerrini, the lifelong wine dealer whose shops have long been well-known by Roman enthusiasts. Among the pleasant hills that embrace the historic village of Monteleone d'Orvieto, at about 600 m above sea level, the vineyards are planted in predominantly sandy and clayey soils. The estate covers 32 hectares of woods, pastures, olive groves, and vineyards; the extremely well-ventilated microclimate helps maintain healthy crops. Today there are 5 hectares of vineyards, only 3 of which are in production and which are entirely dedicated to Pinot Noir (for the others we will have to wait a few more years, as the other plants are still very young). The harvest takes place in the first half of September; the grapes are crushed, destemmed and cooled for the pre-fermentation maceration, then vinified in steel, always at a controlled temperature. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the wine enters aged barriques where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and refines for about a year; after bottling, maturation continues for a further year before release.
The Pinot Noir of Nuova Tenuta Paradiso is has a bright, transparent garnet red hue. The nose is interesting, with notes of red berries, blackberries, and cherries, followed by woody hints of resins and spicy touches of freshly ground pepper and vanilla. On the palate it is a young wine but is crisp and generously alcoholic with gentle tannins and a hint of sapidity. Perfect with roasted pancetta dressed with herbs and spices.
