The PLACEHOLDER_WINEDOMESTICATED by Donnafugata is produced from 100% withered zibibbo grapes (or muscat of Alexandria) grown between 20 and 400 meters above sea level, on sandy soils of volcanic origin arranged in terraces. The vines here are cultivated inside hollows according to the ancient Pantelleria bush training system, a practice inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List as creative and sustainable. A particularity concerns the fermenting must to which hand-stripped raisins have been added to enhance the aroma. Aging took place for 7 months in stainless steel tanks and 12 months in the bottle. The name Ben Rye derives from Arabic and translates as "son of the wind," as the wind is a defining element of the island of Pantelleria.
