Corpo medioThe Greco di Tufo Torrefavale di Cantine dell'Angelo is born from a one-hectare vineyard in the Torre Favale area. This plot was previously divided among various owners and traditionally cultivated in the avellinese raggiera system; Angelo Muto has preserved this system where possible, and the plants are rather old. In Torre Favale, the original aeration building of the underground galleries of the mine, active from 1866 until the second half of the twentieth century, is still visible; the soil here is veined with sulfur but does not have the same high concentration as the Mine vineyard, the other company plot located exactly above the old excavation areas. Torrefavale is vinified entirely in steel, where it then ages for 12 months.
The Greco di Tufo Torrefavale di Cantine dell'Angelo is a very bright gold. As Angelo Muto himself says, the Greco has 3 constitutive features: acidity, tannin, and color (after which he adds a fourth characteristic for his wines, the hint of sulfur). The nose is centered on yellow fruit accompanied by fresh hints of myrtle and wild oregano; in the background, traces of sulfur can be perceived. The palate is sharp, with powerful citrus acidity, savoriness, and good length. Excellent with acorn flour bread, salted butter, seared asparagus, and wild salmon.
