Etna Rosso Moganazzi di Tenuta delle Terre Nere: PRODUCTION

The Etna Rosso Moganazzi di Tenuta delle Terre Nere is produced from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes cultivated in the homonymous district of Castiglione di Sicilia (CT), on the north side of Mount Etna. The vineyard, consisting of bush-trained vines aged 70-80 years, extends over 2 hectares on deep soil characterized by ash mixed with small stones on a substrate of volcanic pumice and basalt. The altitude is approximately 750 meters above sea level. Harvest took place in the second decade of October, with a yield of 50 quintals per hectare. During red vinification, alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C. The aging was 14 months in wood, mostly in French oak barrels.

The Etna Rosso Moganazzi di Tenuta delle Terre Nere is ruby red with garnet reflections. On the nose, it releases aromas of ripe small red fruits that chase hints of undergrowth and balsamic herbs, and notes of roasted coffee powder and dark spices. On the palate, it is soft and elegant, mineral and with a smooth tannic texture. The fruity and spicy finish is persistent. Perfect at the table with cheeses and rich earthy dishes, especially those based on red meats or game.
