The Umbria Rosso from Il Gheppio winery is made from 100% Sagrantino, which is grown in the municipality of Montefalco. The name of the company testifies to the inseparable link with the territory of Montefalco: the kestrel (Falco Tinnunculus) is the typical hunting falcon used since the Middle Ages and, in honour of this bird of prey, Frederick II of Swabia gave its name to the city of Montefalco (formerly Coccorone). The harvest takes place at the beginning of October; the grapes ferment and malolactic in steel and, after clarification by natural sedimentation, the wine ages for about 6 months in oak barrels.
The Umbria Rosso from Il Gheppio winery has a beautiful ruby red colour with purple hues. On the nose, it is rich and powerful, ethereal and complex, characterised by fruity notes of red currant, sour cherries, raspberry, together with menthol touches and sweet spices. On the palate, it is warm, with fairly fine tannins, excellent acidity and fragrant length. Very good with American stuffed turkey.

Secondo una tradizione familiare risalente ai primi del ‘900
