The Branciforti Syrah was obtained from 100% Syrah grapes raised in the Agro di Trapani area, as part of the Gelso Grande Estate. The vineyards of origin, facing north, are situated on medium-textured soils tending to clay, at an average altitude of 300 metres above sea level. After the manual harvest, carried out at the end of August, with a yield of 80 quintals per hectare, the grapes were sent to the vinification process which included the phases of maceration of the must in contact with the skins and alcoholic fermentation which took place at a controlled temperature of 24° C for a period of 8-10 days. After malolactic fermentation, which sweetened the aromatic and structural edges of the must, Branciforti's Syrah Terre Siciliane IGT 2016 was aged for 1 month in medium-sized oak barrels and for a further month in the bottle.
Branciforti's Syrah is presented in the glass with an intense ruby red colour. On the nose, it expresses enveloping aromas of cherry, black cherry and small berries that intertwine with docile spicy notes. The sip is soft and pleasant, enhanced by an elegant freshness and a delicate mineral trail that persists in the finish. At the table, it goes well with cured meats and semi-aged cheeses as well as succulent recipes prepared with red meats or game. Also excellent paired with red tuna-based dishes.
