Colterenzio's Müller Thurgau is part of that line of "classic" wines that this cooperative winery vinifies from traditional varieties in purity. Müller Thurgau was born in Switzerland in the late nineteenth century from the crossing of Riesling and Madeleine Royale, to extend first to Central Northern Europe, then to New Zealand, the United States and Japan. In Colterenzio, it is grown at 500-600 metres above sea level. The barrier of the Alps, 18,000 hours of sunshine a year, the winds of Lake Garda, the heat of the day and the coolness of the night create the ideal conditions for the development of this and other aromatic and semi-aromatic grape varieties. The must ferments at a controlled temperature in steel fermenters and matures for a few months on the lees.
The Müller Thurgau by Colterenzio has a greenish yellow colour. On the nose, it is rich in the scent of elder flowers, so widespread in the area, and white peach, with slight references to hay and spice of nutmeg. In the mouth, it is quite soft, but fresh and savoury, with a pleasant correspondence to the aroma of the nose. Try it with the peppered mussels, or with the mozzarella in carrozza with anchovies.
Impepata di cozze; mozzarella in carrozza con le acciughe.
