The Etna Bianco José Maria di Vita Nova pays tribute in its name to the parents of the owner and founder Marco Giachino. Marco, who approached Etna viticulture only in 2015, dazzled by it, immediately dedicated himself to the protection and revaluation of his grandfather's vineyards in Passopisciaro by restoring the small trees of the old Nerello Mascalese vineyards, carrying out all the work by hand and only with organic preparations. Over the years, he also looked around in search of a patch of brown land, among volcanic rocks, to dedicate to a new planting, found it and planted Carricante: thus, in 2021, the first Etna Bianco of Vita Nova is born. We are at 600m above sea level, in the Contrada Feudo di Mezzo where the soil is lean, shallow, and rich in mineral substances. The grapes are vinified in steel with temperature control and the use of selected yeasts; the wine then remains on lees until the following March after the harvest.

ETNA BIANCO JOSÈ MARIA VITA NOVA: TASTING

The Etna Bianco Maria José of Vita Nova presents itself as a bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, it is mineral and fragrant, with notes of jasmine and broom, green apple and greengage, basil and sage, all in a delicate smoky embrace. On the palate, it is fresh and savory, with a pleasantly bitter finish: a perfect start to the evening, just as enjoyable with the beloved summer bruschetta with tomatoes, as well as with swordfish tartare.
