The Contrada C di Passopisciaro is obtained from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes cultivated in hiappemacine Vineyard at Castigione di Sicilia (CT) on the north side of Mount Etna. The original vineyard has an average age of 90 years and covers 12 hectares. The soil is volcanic and characterized by the presence of sandstone; the altitude is approximately 550 meters above sea level. After manual harvesting with a yield of 55 quintals per hectare, the grapes were transported to the cellar for vinification in stainless steel tanks. The aging process lasted 18 months in large wooden barrels. The bottling took place during the waning moon of April 2022.

CONTRADA C PASSOPISCIARO: THE TASTING

The Contrada C di Passopisciaro is ruby red in color with bright reflections. On the nose, it expresses aromas of cherry and red fruits which mingle with hints of undergrowth and balsamic herbs, as well as warm notes of cloves and dark spices. The palate is soft and mineral, supported by smooth tannins and a long fruity and spicy finish. Perfect on the table with aged cheeses and succulent main courses based on red meats or game.
