The Chianti Riserva Collezione Oro by Piccini is born from a blend of Sangiovese (90%) and Cabernet (10%) grapes carefully selected from the company's vineyards located within the DOCG Chianti area that embraces in whole or in part the provinces of Siena, Florence, Arezzo, Pisa, Prato and Pistoia. The ageing process takes place in wood for a period of 9 months: 70% of the assembled wine was aged in oak barrels while the remaining 30% rested in barriques. The name "Collezione Oro" refers to the high-quality standards pursued by the Piccini winery to produce this intriguing Chianti Riserva.
Piccini's Chianti Riserva Collezione Oro is announced in a ruby red colour glass. On the nose, it reveals aromas of morello cherry and ripe red fruits that are combined with spicy notes of vanilla with light vegetal hints. On the palate, it is soft and pleasant, supported by well-integrated tannins and a delicate fresh-savoury trail that persists in the finish. At the table, it goes well with cured meats and semi-aged cheeses as well as with first and second courses based on red meats and game.
