The Chianti Colli Fiorentini Riserva di Malenchini is born in a context that can be described as fascinating is an understatement: in the heart of the denomination, 10 kilometers from Florence, the organic farm Malenchini extends around the Medici Villa of Lilliano. The 70 hectares include 18 planted with vineyards for a long time, with indigenous and international grapes, and 42 with olive groves, with various traditional cultivars. The ancient cellars and the olive oil mill date back to 1830. Leading the company for more than twenty years is Diletta Malenchini, who represents the eighth generation, always deeply connected to the territory and its history. The vineyards are located in the Antella area, between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, on medium-textured, loamy-clay soils. This Reserve comes from the selection of the best Sangiovese grapes from the company. It is vinified in temperature-controlled steel and then aged in 20-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months, and then in the bottle.
The Chianti Colli Fiorentini Riserva di Malenchini is bright ruby red. The olfactory profile is centered on rose petals and violets, blackberry and sour cherry jam, eucalyptus and tobacco, with hints of white pepper and Mediterranean maquis. The palate is well-balanced, with integrated tannins, freshness of blood orange, and a savory touch. Excellent paired with game and roasted potatoes.
