The Brunello di Montalcino 2018 from Argiano has been awarded as the Best Wine in the World by Wine Spectator's annual ranking, which lists the top 100 wines in the world.

The Brunello di Montalcino from Argiano 2018 was produced using 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes. The vineyards, cultivated using organic methods, are located on soils composed of marl and ancient clays with a high limestone concentration, at an altitude ranging from 280 to 310 meters above sea level. The red wine vinification process included a cold pre-fermentation maceration phase that favored the extraction of primary aromas. Alcoholic fermentation lasted for 2 weeks in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks. The aging process took place for 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels of various capacities. The bottling was carried out following lunar phases.

On the nose, it reveals aromas of sour cherry, ripe wild berries, combined with floral notes of violet, hints of noble woods, and dark spices. Balsamic herbs and undergrowth notes complement the aromatic profile. The palate is deep and silky, enhanced by elegant tannins and a gentle minerality that lingers in the long, fruity, and spicy finish. It pairs well with aged cheeses, as well as rich earthy dishes featuring red meats or game.
