The Barolo Serralunga d'Alba di Fontanafredda is produced with grapes from the vineyards of Serralunga. We are between 300 and 400 meters above sea level, on soils rich in limestone and gray marls mixed with sands. The harvest takes place around mid-October and the grapes are vinified in steel. The wine ages for a year in Allier oak barriques and a year in 3000-liter barrels, before resting in the bottle for at least another 12 months before being released for sale.
The Barolo Serralunga d'Alba di Fontanafredda reflects this warm vintage, initially perhaps underestimated, which has then produced very pleasant results. It appears in the glass with a beautiful intense ruby red color, with garnet reflections; on the nose, it is rich in aromas that denote its youth such as black fruit, rose and violet flowers, undergrowth, accompanied by hints that instead refer to an initial evolution of Barolo, like china balsam, licorice, and black pepper. On the palate, it is energetic, with a well-structured tannic texture, sweet softness, well-balanced acidity, and great persistence. The pairing with Piedmontese "polenta concia" enriched with white truffle from Alba is particularly interesting.
